Tips, Preparation

Getting ready for skiing: what exercises can you do at home?

To help you prepare for your next vacation, the Alpapart team shares its tips for getting the most out of this winter!

Summary

1 – Prepare one to two months before departure

Because, like us, the body needs time to adapt to new habits, don't hesitate to start your physical preparation as early as possible. Well-prepared muscles are essential for avoiding aches and pains and injuries on the ski slopes!

2 – Practice muscle strengthening

While the knee is sometimes a skier's worst nightmare, exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles can reduce the risk of injury!

Lunges and squats, for example, are excellent exercises for building muscle in the thighs and glutes.

To work your entire body, there's nothing better than core exercises.
The plank is a powerful tool! Face forward or sideways, vary your routine for optimal results.

3 – Get back into cycling

In Tignes, it’s not uncommon to see indoor bikes on the balconies!

Cycling is indeed perfect for toning your thighs...Is it time to switch your mode of transportation to get to work?

4 – Don't neglect stretching

For a 360-degree view!

Stretching your muscles is essential alongside any muscle-building exercise.
Practicing short YOGA sessions several times a week is an excellent way to increase flexibility in the muscles you work out!
